5 Reasons I Enjoy Traveling Alone

I am all for friendcations, lover's getaways, and family time. That said, there is nothing quite like being on your own program in a far away land. Here's why I'm totally in to it:

  1. Eating Alone - are you gonna finish that?
It isn't as bad as it sounds and no, no one is looking at you in pity. Also, I've met some of the coolest people at the table next to me and had plenty of time for conversation. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it.

  2. Walking With a Soundtrack - nothing says 'leave me be' like earbuds.
Though I love to make conversation, say hello and give the occasional nod, when Sigur Rós is playing a private concert of Ekki múkk in your ears, the world looks a little more beautiful.

  3. Sleeping When I Want To - yes, i know its noon.
No matter where I am, I do my best to get a full 8 hours of sleep. So, if I'm up till 4am (for jet lag or any other reason), I sleep till noon. No, I have no shame in my sleep game.

  4. Last Minute Adventure - is this seat taken?
Look, being the only person in a group thats up for anything is frustrating. When you travel alone, not only do you have less baggage physically, you're more likely to find a spot on that last minute bus.

  5. Making New Friends - rollin with my homies
So when I return, all of the above is opened up to a whole new possibility.
